Privacy Policy

SparksSimple ("we," "us") turns photos you already have into a printed photo book, delivered on a cadence you choose. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who we share it with. If anything here is unclear, email hello@sparkssimple.com and a person will answer.
Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you subscribe or order a gift, we also keep a Stripe customer reference so future charges and billing history stay linked to your account — we do not receive or store your full card number; that is handled entirely by Stripe.
Shipping address. Required before any book is approved for printing, and passed to our print fulfillment partner to ship your order.
Photos, from Google Photos. SparksSimple connects to Google Photos using Google's Picker API. That means we never get standing, background access to your whole library — each connection only lets us open a picker session that you actively use to select photos yourself. We download and store the photos you select (in a private, access-controlled storage bucket) so your book can be curated and printed; we do not scan or retrieve anything you didn't explicitly choose. You can disconnect Google Photos from your dashboard at any time, which stops any further books from being generated.
Photo analysis. Photos you select are automatically screened for safety (explicit content, screenshots, sensitive documents, blur) and analyzed to recognize recurring faces, pets, and places, so your book can be curated without you re-tagging the same people every time. This analysis is performed by an automated image-recognition provider (currently Google Cloud Vision) and the results — not the underlying provider's own copy of your photos — are stored against your account.
Usage and device data. We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (pages visited, general location, device type). This is standard web analytics and is not linked to your photos.
Who we share data with
We share only what each service needs to do its job, and never sell your data:
- Stripe — payment processing and billing.
- Google Photos — the source of any photos you choose to select for a book.
- Google Cloud Vision — automated content screening and recognition of the photos you select.
- Supabase — secure storage for your account data and selected photos.
- Our print fulfillment partner — receives your finished book layout and shipping address solely to print and ship your order.
- Resend — delivery of account and order emails (confirmations, shipping updates, gift codes).
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and photo data for as long as your account is active, so your book history and recognized people/pets/places stay usable without you rebuilding them. If you want your account and associated data deleted, email hello@sparkssimple.com and we'll remove it, aside from records we're legally required to retain (such as billing history).
Your choices
- Disconnect Google Photos from your dashboard at any time.
- Pause or cancel your subscription at any time — no long-term contract.
- Set always-include and always-exclude rules for specific people, pets, or places.
- Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing us.
Children
SparksSimple is not directed at children, and accounts are not intended for anyone under 16. Photos of your own children may of course appear within books you create as a parent or guardian.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to how we handle your data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above, and where appropriate, email you directly.
