Boat Dive Briefing Checklist
A boat dive briefing needs everything a general predive briefing covers, plus boat-specific logistics that don't apply on shore: how the crew calls divers back, surface interval plans between tanks, and what happens if a diver surfaces away from the boat.
Boat-specific items to brief
- Charter/boat contact information and check-in procedure
- Descent and ascent line procedures, if used
- Surface signal for "I'm okay" vs. "I need pickup"
- Procedure if a diver surfaces away from the boat
- Surface interval plan between multiple tanks
- Who on the crew is the surface contact during the dive
